Spring Skin Prep - part 2: Facial Care & Cosmetics
When the seasons shift, it's time to adjust your skincare routine - allow Purple Essentials to offer some expert advice on how to Prep Your Face for Spring - rejuvenate your skin and brighten your complexion - naturally!
As we head into the warmer weather, now is the perfect time to modify your choice of skincare products and cosmetics - Purple Essentials knows your face requires the most uncompromising attention. Following months of cool, Winter weather, combined with dry, indoor heating, your complexion may look dull and washed out. This lack of brightness is likely due, in large part, to a build-up of dead skin cells. Lucky for us, skin responds quickly to some well-aimed TLC - Get that Natural Glow Back!
Key steps for a glowing Spring complexion:
Cleanse - Before we advise on daily cleansing, the start of Spring is the perfect time to treat your face to a pampering, nourishing reset - a facial mask. The intent is to detox your skin and deep clean your pores, best accomplished by using a clay-based facial mask. Clays offer tightening and toning properties, while drawing out impurities from the skin - the effect can be magical and immediate.
Purple Essentials suggests a season-starting, clay-based, facial mask to Prep Your Skin for Spring! While written for the Fall season, here's a great piece on how to apply your own facial mask!

Tip for the perfect exfoliating mixture? Use our Orange and Rosemary Cleanser as the base and add enough Cleansing Grains to create a paste. Apply to face in gentle upward, circular motions, paying extra attention to areas where blackheads may accumulate (i.e. chin, nose, forehead). Allow to sit on the skin for 2 minutes and remove with a warm, damp cloth. Follow with Balancing Pore Toner and Rejuvenating Serum.

Moisturize & Nourish - The dense, moisturizing cream that you have been using on your face through the chilly months, maybe a little too heavy for the warmer ones ahead. With increasing heat and humidity, skin can become oily, which can lead to acne and blemishes. While moisturizing is always an important step, changing to a lighter version will help to keep your complexion clear and bright.

**Remember to apply SPF30+ to all exposed skin, paying attention to those often-missed areas: your fingers, toes, backs of ears and lips.

Makeup - With the focus on flawless, glowing skin this Spring, makeup colours should lighten up too. Refresh your look with a luminous face and just a hint of mineral colour, with either a focus on soft eyes with sheer pastel colours and well-defined brows; bronzer for a sun-kissed glow on the cheeks and eyes; or a trend that we are thrilled with - Shades of PURPLE! Including orchid, lilac and lavender shadows in lighter shades paired with soft pink, coral or nude shades on the lips. For daytime use a lip gloss, rather than a lipstick, and switch from black mascara to dark brown. Instead of a liquid, full-coverage foundation, move to a tinted moisturizer or mineral powder instead.

By making adjustments to your skincare routine now, you will be able to enjoy smooth, glowing skin through the warmer weather days ahead.
